Hi guys,

Was wondering if anyone knew what was causing this "thunk" sound and whether or not I should worry?

It only happens when I gas on a turn whereas if I just turn without gassing no sound is produced. It is the same for left or right turn.

What is it that is making a sound? A friend mechanic stated that it could be the sway bar but said that it should sound like 2 wooden blocks hitting each other where in this case it is not.

Thank you for your time & help.

Sounds like it could be something coming from some suspension component or something on the underbody. It will be best to take your vehicle into the dealer to let them inspect it, just to ensure it's safe for the road.

I tried to recreate it for a friend (mechanic) but she had performance anxiety and made me look like a psycho.... Another friend explained that I could have just bottomed out on the springs? that all the weight could have been transferred to that portion of the car due to the speed, gravity/weight which seems plausible. I know for sure that the intake is NOT an issue. It is secured

I would check to make sure everything is secure in the trunk, under the mat where the spare tire resides. Does the sound come from the front or rear? If it is coming from the rear, and you already checked that everything is secured under the trunk mat then I would have a friend sit on one side and you try your maneuvers. If the side the person is sitting one now doesn't make a noise there is probably lose on that side. Repeat for the other side to determine if having extra weight on one side helps or not.

Without actually hearing the sound it is hard to tell what is happening.

i have a theory based on same happening on another car a few years ago.

it is the gasoline in the tank slammiing into an internal baffle or something else .

i am trying to remember the car i had that did this but too many and about 8 or 10years ago

So... This sound can only be heard when you are the driver... passengers will not hear it.
It only occurs when you are making a turn on Gear 1 -> Gear 2. What I mean is that when you are changing gears (only 1->2) will this sound be heard... might just be a psychological thing for me... but yeah lol... and on a turn. Must be these 2 factors in order to the hear the sound. Thanks guys for listening to my crazyness :)
