Lexus is teasing a new mystery model that will be making its debut at the upcoming 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

Lexus_F_15NAIAS_002The Japanese company is only letting on that the new model will be part of the ‘F’ brand, which means it’s built to go fast around a racetrack. Currently, the company sells the RC F Coupe, which packs a 5.0-liter V8 that makes 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque.

From the look of the photos, the new car in question may be the rebirth of the IS F, which would essentially be an RC F with four doors. However, it may also be a performance version of the company’s larger GS, a car that has been rumored for some time.

Whatever it is, AutoGuide will be live at the Detroit Auto Show to get you all the details.

what a shame that a statement like that is coming from an automotive publication.
not sure how they could think that's the IS, the headlight design is the biggest giveaway that this is the GS. It's not natural of a brand to go for a completely different headlight design on a performance version of a specific model.

even comparing the below with pictures of the current GS, it gets even clearer:

Whatever it is I'm excited to see the full model when it is revealed in Detroit. Will it run on the same engine as the RC F?

It's not like you can tell that much about this vehicle from the little sliver we see in these photos.

you can tell enough and if you've been paying attention over the last few months you would of noticed that there have been several GS-F sightings globally while all has been silent on the IS front.

Logic says we can connect the dots ;)

what a difference in headlight design from one of the test mules that was spotted some time ago...

and to think i was happy with THAT ^

Now, considering the differences in the front end... it has me wondering what changes will be done on the rear end from what we have seen, like in the below...

So you think that the rear end is going to change even at that part where there is no camouflage? Possibly. They definitely could play with the taillights a bunch. Not sure if that is the same vehicle that we are seeing in the teaser shots.
