The Lexus RC has been nominated for the 2015 Car of the Year award. The full list of nominees totals 33 vehicles. That list will be cut down to a short list of 7 on December 15th, and the grand prize winner will be announced on March 2nd at the Geneva Motor Show.

Which do you think will win the grand prize?

How do you think they judge all these cars against each other? How do you compare a Twingo to a RC to a i8 to a Renegade. They are sooooooooo different.
It's probably due to innovation and things long those lines, basically taking away anything that you would look at to compare a car to another that requires it to be apples to apples: same segment.

It's more like, what has that brand done here, how have they improved, how have they spoke to the needs of consumers, etc.

It's also hard for me to evaluate some of the cars on the list that are only sold in Europe like the Cactus and the Qashqai (which has a stupid name that no one knows how to pronounce.)I wonder if there is pressure to choose a car that is sold in the US/China since those are the biggest car markets.

I believe Europe as a whole is a larger market than the US is by itself...

Yea, you are probably right. I wonder if all the jurists even know enough about all the vehicles on the list to accurately judge them. Have they driven them all (which is impossible since some of the cars aren't even out yet). Kinda like how I wonder if all the members of the Academy watch all the movies nominated for Oscars.
