Hi All,

Many thanks to sajonf for providing the instructions. I just provided some additional information as to what to expect during the process.

Remote starting the car w/o using the Enform Remote App.

Press the Lock button 3 times, and on the third time hold until the parking lights begin to flash, release the lock button.

The vehicle will start within a few seconds.

Pressing the Unlock button or opening the door will shut off the car.

Try it and see how far away you can be to remote start the car with the key Fob and report back.

Enjoy,
Peter

I think you must have the paid monthly subscription. Mine does not work with just the Lexus Enform App. 2015 RCF
You need to pay for the Lexus Safety with Remote, and if you pay yearly it costs $160 otherwise monthly is $16.

Can you please explain why utilizing the Bluetooth enabled ODBII (BAFX)connector to use with the Carista App is better than the default option???

MJ...:)
Hi MJ,

The enhanced Carista App (the one that you pay for) with the Bluetooth ODBII connector allows you to access all the features of Carista, think of it as running in enhanced mode. The dealer can program for you all those enhanced features, and charge you for them after the initial setup. This way you can change any feature that you want that before only the dealer could do for you.

Did that help? Did you see the post I started that gives you the sheet with all the options that are programmable, and which ones you are allowed to change, and the ones that are dealer only. With the Pair Carista App you can now change the Dealer Only ones. Hi, so I tried the key fob trick last year after I read this thread and it worked fine for me. I didn't have to use it because I had the app. However I cancelled the app back in November and the key fob won't start the car now? This wouldn't be connected would it?
Unfortunately Yes it is. In order for the key fob to remote start you need to have Lexus Enform remote start.

yeah, I mean't I was pissed about the triple lights, and dash and a heap of other things the dealer didn't explain. Apparently I was to look at pictures and pick it.

That would be like ordering a mail order bride. No thanks!!!! I'd be mad as heck also.

The salt can be quite annoying, but my mother lives in Saskatchewan and they just use gravel for the roads in the winter. Apparently that can be equally as annoying with dirt and rocks and crap flying everywhere. There is just dust everywhere she says.
Gravel, really, WOW. I've now lived long enough to truly see everything. I see a lot of replaced windshields coming soon. YIKES

I thought it was funny when I heard your 'winters' are prime time for enthusiasts, meanwhile summers can be way too hot to have a vehicle out at times

Either way, still much nicer than having to deal with the type of weather we do in northern parts of north america :(
I used to live in the NE so I can empathize. Yes, Summer is when many of us car enthusiasts work on our cars so we can drive them in the Fall/Winter/Spring time. Luckily I have a 2 ton AC unit for the garage so even if it is blazing hot out I can still be a cool 70 inside.

I do hear that Spring is coming to the NE soon, so hang in there.

Ok... I'm back again... :(

I managed to get the app going in and it's great. But I cannot roll the windows down or Turn on the Car with the Key Fob....

PLease help..
To turn the car on using the Fob follow the this procedure:

Press the Lock button 3 times, after each time the parking lights will flash, and on the third time press & hold until the parking lights begin to flash, release the lock button.

The vehicle will start within a few seconds.

Pressing the Unlock button or opening the door will shut off the car.

To get the windows to roll down with the Key fob that is a dealer only programming, or you can use an APP called Carista and a Bluetooth enabled ODBII connector and program it yourself like I did. This is the link to the Customization Checklist that Lexus uses. At the bottom of the page is a link to Carista.

In general remote starters are good, even if you live somewhere with ideal weather conditions where you can hop in right away without feeling like you're in an oven or a freezer, having it for the sake of giving the engine and related components time to be 'ready' is a prime motivation for me to get one.

Too many people make the mistake of hopping in their cars right away and not allowing it time to get 'ready' before taking off.
I love the "get ready before take off" reference as that is how it feels to me when I drive my car as I feel I'm in a cockpit of a plane. ;)

do you pay extra fro the lexus enform app/SERVICE?

I downloaded the app and entered the car VIN#. Now is asking for activation email from Lexus dealership... I never got this.
The first year it is free. After that you have to pick a plan in order for the Cell phone app and I think the Key fob to still work.

If you never got the e-mail you can get it fixed by pressing the SOS button in the car and talking to Lexus Enform directly.

Awesome, starting with key FOB works for me now too, since setting up the Enform app.

What is everyones success ratio with starting the engine using the Enform app? For me it's about 50/50....
It's more, like 70/30, but then it also has to do with cell service and being able to connect.

It is about time that Lexus Canada smarten up and get the Enform App that you Americans have been enjoying for sometime now. I would love to have all these features.
When? I have heard never so far!
It might have to do with regulations about remote starting a car and leaving it unattended, wasting gas, or creating pollution. Does Canada have anything like that?

i have tried doing this on mine.... i cant seem to make it work.:|:|:|:|:|
Make sure you have the Lexus Enform Remote setup and working first. We found that w/o it the Key Fob won't remote start the car. Hope that helps/

100' won't do it, shame. I was hoping to save the cost of the enform app. However, i really do like the fact that it will notify you if you leave the doors unlocked so I will probably keep it. I'm kinda shocked at how often i do it.

(and it is pretty cool when people when people go what's that? um, I'm locking my car doors because it sent me a notification that they were unlocked :) heh heh :) )
Remember that 100' was in a parking garage and you distance can vary.

I love it when I remote start my car, and people are like WTF. It's even more fun when Security comes up and lets me know that my car started by itself. ;)
