RC200t Debuts in Japan

We've long known it was coming, but today is the day that Toyota and Lexus officially unveiled the RC200t.

Nothing much changes under the skin, Lexus is simply offering you the choice now between the 3.5L V6 and the 2.0L Turbo Inline 4, power still makes it to the ground via an 8 speed transmission.

Same as the RC350, the RC200t will be made available in F Sport trim, wich features the same Torsen LSD rear end, same body kit. Orange calipers and red leather interior is available as optional equipment.

The RC200t's 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque hustle the coupe to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds, slower then the NX200t featuring the same engine. Lexus says it should return 25 mpg US.

Pricing outside of Japan reamins unavailable, however it is 10% cheaper then the RC350, something that should translate to NA and Europe eventually.

Poor man's RC? OK. I'm sure there will be a lot of people who are happy about this. It debuted in Japan though, is it even coming to NA?

Can't be a poor man's RC when this is the RC ;)

FR-S is the poor man's RC.

I didn't know that the FR-S and RC were related. Makes sense though.
They aren't related at all. I only mentioned it because you talked about the RC200 being a poor mans RC, and it doesn't work like that. The FR-S is a 'poor mans' RC.
Whoever buys this will be disappointed IMO. Not enough power. Car's too heavy.
tons of tuning potential though i think...

I see it as a vehicle for those who just want to commute, plus eventually the tuners will come along and help extract some power.
Depending on the price, if someone is going to go for the RC200t F Sport they may as well get the RC350 instead.

What I like to think is thinking about the long term... making sure you're going to be happy with what ever model you're going to get for what ever amount of time you guess. If the answer is no... move a level up ;)
