As we knew Lexus installed their new 2.0T 4 cylinder in the RC coupe, joining the IS and NX using the new VVT turbo. They've also decided on a newly tuned V6.

Joining the V8 powered RC-F and the 3.5L V6 equipped RC350, the RC200t shows up with a 4 cylinder turbo making 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of twist. For now the 200t will only be available in RWD guise. There is an available F-Sport pack however.

Also joining the RC stable is a new V6 trim. The RC300 AWD will be offered with the same 3.5L V6 as the RC350 however it has been derated in this application. The RC300 offers 255 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, down from 306 and 277 ft-lbs in the 350.

The RC300 and RC200t should be seen as two halves of Lexus entry level strategy. What Lexus has done is lower the cost of entry to both AWD and RWD models by some $2,500).

Car and Driver writes, "The RC200t starts at $40,935, versus $43,720 for the RC350 (a savings of $2785). The entry figure for the RC300 AWD is $43,550, while the RC350 AWD checks in at $45,955 (making the lesser version $2405 cheaper)."

Our only worry is that the new 241 hp 2.0T might feel overmatched or sluggish in the weighty RC chassis...
