New Lexus Every Year...

We'll see if the ambition outweighs the talent on this one, LExus is aiming for one new model a year until 2020. Are there even that many legitimate lineup gaps to warrant that type of accelerated product development?

that's a lot of models to come out with but I know they do want to compete with bigger more well established brands like bmw and mercedes, so going with that knowledge it does justify doing this as they do need many more models to compete with those brands in many more segments.
Well two of those will be the production version of the LF-LC, and another will be a sub-NX crossover. I am guessing that Lexus will come out with a downmarket sedan as well, since that is what everyone else is doing.
What do you guys think of a small coupe from lexus?

I hope not, after LExus told us just the other day how much better they were than mercedes by not turning to such a strategy. Ah well, wait long enough and people will forget the propeganda and readily buy into the new narrative!

I would like to see it happen and chances are it will

That's if they team up with BMW to build a Z2, which in that case would give them a great platform for their own lexus coupe.
I don't see why a small coupe would be bad for Lexus. It would compete against rivals that already have entrants into that segment, and I also think that it would appeal to young people, which is an aim of Lexus moving forward.
plus add to the fact that we're in an economy that calls for smaller and more affordable vehicles, and what better than an affordable japanese luxury coupe that's RWD, sign me up!

hmmm good point they can work something out with that platform. I mean i not sure I fi would neccessarliy be looking to buy one but with the way everything is going it might not be a bad back up plan.
We would indeed need to see much more about it, but with the latest sport coupes coming out from Lexus and Toyota, I have faith in them, that they would come out with a great product, one that could very well turn out to be the best in it's segment.
and when they do im sure they have a few engines they can already put in from the shelves ;)
To think about it what if they had a vehicle that can challenge the 1 series from BMW. what do you guys think?

cool

i would like to see it but we need more info that shows they want to go that direction
A 1-series competitor could be a good idea. It certainly would fall in line with the compact and down market push that a lot of car makers are doing. I'd also be interested to see how they implement the spindle grille on a car that small. It could be the most aggressive little compact luxury car around if they do it right.
I mean if the 1 well 2 series now can have a inline 6 then why cant lexus have a small coupe with a 2.5L 4GR-FSE V6 for the base and a F model with the 3.5 L 2GR-FSE V6 or if that 6 is too much then 3.0 L 3GR-FE V6. and... offer this one in manual ;)
The only thing it really does come down to is which platform.
