BMW's competitors have been hot on its heels in the luxury sales race for the US. In March Lexus moved into second place, replacing Mercedes-Benz.
Lexus saw a growth in sales of 8.6% for a total of 31,054 units. The models leading the way for Lexus were the NX crossover and the RC Coupe. Lexus also set a first-quarter record in the US with 77,180 units sold.
For March, BMW sat in first with 34,310 units, Lexus in second with 31,054, Mercedes-Benz in third with 29,921 units, and Audi a distant 4th with 17,102 units.
