a Ford vs a Lexus you might say, yes a Ford vs a Lexus is what I will say. Lexus is bringing a coupe to a showroom near you for the first time in 13 years. Guess what, the 2015 Mustang has it squarely in its sights.

the RC350 will be showing up with Toyotas 3.5L V6 engine that channels 306 ponies through an 8 speed auto coupled to the rear wheels. Or the RC-F with its 5.0L V8 sourced from IS-F pumping out 423 HP/

The EcoBoost Mustang will be showing up with 305 bhp from a 2.3L 4 cylinder routed through your choise of 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual. The Mustang has a 5.0 of its own, the Coyote. No official specs on the new Coyote are available, the only thing we do know is 420+ HP. How much + is anyones guess.

As much as i would like to look at weight, power to weight and dynamics its nearly impossible considering the information on dimensions for both vehicles is fragmented, not to mention no one has driven either yet...

Where the mustang gains an edge however is its performance lineage. The EcoBoost Mustang is in fact going to be receiving a Performance Pack just like its big brother Mustang GT.

Ford has demonstrated with S197 that if you have the will and the cash you can deck out the Mustang almost as well as any BMW. Look for that to improve on the S550 as well...

The only place the Mustang will surely lose out is in terms of dealership experience. Comparing the shopping experience of Lexus and Ford is useless. Of course you cannot discount snobbery here, but for objective Lexus shoppers the Mustang should provide similar if not better performance in a more affordable package...

depends which Mustang you are talking about

This new 2015 Mustang is a new kind of beast

It can very well go up against the RC

With the V8 it would dominate.
I actually have a lot of faith in the new 2015 mustang. It's leaner than the outgoing generation and still packs a punch. Even the basemodel ecoboost model will have some great output. Will be cool to see what it can do when put up against the RC
The two cars are surprisingly similar from the side profile. Obviously, at the front and the back they are really nothing alike. And though the Mustang interior is better than I was expecting, it still doesn't compare to the RC 350 interior.

I just don't think the two cars are aimed at the same buyer. One is a Mustang and the other is a luxury sedan.
well no, not a luxury sedan.

The EcoBoost and the V8 will compete almost head to head on specs with RC350 and RC-F

the RC350 3.5L V6 engine that channels 306 ponies stacks well against the EcoBoost Mustangs 2.3L Turbo 4 that pumps out 305 bhp.

Or the RC-F with its 5.0L V8 making 423 HP vs the Mustang GTs own 5.0 V8 making 420+ HP...

As i said in the OP an objective shopper will consider both, someone who is locked into image and branding won't even glance twice at the mustang. Its a shame because both are quality offers.
I think from a Luxury and comfort standpoint it'll be hard to trump Lexus

But performance.. I think I'd give the edge to the Mustang..
