Debuted at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach this past weekend was the Lexus RC F GT concept model.
Developed together with the RC F, the GT will fill the gap between the street legal RC F and the RC F GT3 race car and it’s expected to have a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and transmission. Even with modified lubrication and cooling systems along with a new performance exhaust, Lexus managed to shave off around 800 pounds from the GT when compared to the standard RC F thanks to the extensive use of composite materials.
Other changes includes a reinforced and adjustable racing suspension and software upgrades were made to the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system.
Jeff Bracken, VP and GM Lexus division, says the “GT Concept shows the opportunities of the platform and powertrain that underpins our F models” and it makes a “very strong statement about Lexus’ engineering capabilities.” Maybe we’ll see the GT underpinning in future F models.
