Lexus has made a paper version of its IS sedan. It is made from 1,700 sheets of precisely laser-cut cardboard. There is a hidden steel and aluminum frame that can support passengers and can actually be driven around via an electric motor.

Why did Lexus do this?

The paper IS will be on display at an upcoming design show in the UK.

I think it'd be pretty hard to transport. Pretty sure they will display it, but maybe in one spot or at least in a pretty small geographic area.

Might be hard to transport it how you would a regular vehicle, but all this would call for are measures that won't compromise the project through the process. Can't be that hard. If they want to take it around to places they will.

They will have to ship it in a truck because it looks like it's stuck at a blistering speed of 5mph (something like this).

Enclosed trailer for sure and i'm sure they have a lot of those since it reduces any unexpected things from happening during transport, something you ultimately want to prevent since it can be a big setback at an event.

I think the intention of this innovative masterpiece is mainly for marketing purposes. Lexus wants to attract the attention of both end consumers and commercial investors. They wish to showcase their unique ideas and their superior level of creativity as well as capability to produce something more than just regular cars.

They definitely hit the nail on the head for showcasing their ideas and creativity. They always have been, and are continuing to step the game up without issue.

As awesome as the car looks, that seat looks terribly uncomfortable haha! I suppose it could work a bit like frame though, a bit of metallic and wood finishing over the cardboard will spruce it up quite nicely! But you'll definitely not be able to put an engine in the hood. The whole thing will just go up in flames for sure. A battery might work though!
