Motoring Aus with another GREAT Lexus Interview...

Lexus defends porky RC coupe - motoring.com.au

“How fun to drive is more important than the other things I think,” Kusama told motoring.com.au at least week’s RC launch in New York.

“But of course after launch if the market needs other performance, maybe in the future we think we study the other things.”

“Body structure, very good rigidity and passive safety and big diameter tyres, then the body weight becomes a little heavier,” Kusama explained. “But I think you don’t feel the weight so much.”

I like what i'm reading from that interview. At least they're still keeping things driver focused along with speaking to our needs.

well exactly, they're not playing paper racing. They know the goons will be more than happy to compare quarter mile times and 0-60's, but they also know the goons don't know how to enjoy fine automobiles.

So thankfully what Lexus did was build the RC, goons need not apply!

Lexus messed up and did not do adequate weight management during the engineering process. This will cost them in sales.

The good side to that is it sets them up for creating a lighter weight RC down the line, easy win for them as they see fit wherever along the production cycle.
