I was looking at the new Toyota FT-1 concept and the LF LC concept and it struck me how identical they are. What I find interesting is that the LF LC ended up spawning the RC350 and RC-F coupe.

Considering how similar the concepts are I wonder if the MKV Supra FT-1 is supposed to spawn could actually use the RC coupe as its base...

You are pretty right about them being similar. I had never noticed before. Do you mean using the RC Coupe's platform for a Toyota roadster or coupe or something? I could see it going in that direction. basically a more affordable version of the RC Coupe?

yea exactly. If the platform was shared with the RC it would cut lead time and R&D funds required. They could stay distinguished from the RC by using different engine options in the MKV Supra.

Plus there is historical precedent. The MKIV Supra shared its bones with the old Lexus SC coupe...

from how i've always known it the 4th generation supra and lexus SC were close to eachother, so going off of that history, the next generation lexus SC should be running off the platform the Supra is. but that could change.

No, not even close.

The RC is the IS coupe successor, which still leaves room right above it for the Lexus SC.

They even mentioned they will have a coupe that sits between the RC and LFA.
IS Coupe? The convertible you mean? No I dont think so at all. The ISc was unimpressive no one bought it and even fewer knew it existed ;)

Look at the dimensions of the RC and the FT1 concept

RC
Wheelbase: 107.5 in
Length:184.8 in
Height: 54.9 in
Width: 72.4 in

FT-1
Wheelbase- 107.9 in
Length- 184.1 in
Height- 48.2 in
Width- 77.6 in

I'm willing to bet that the FT-1 concept is actually rolling on the RC's platform as is...
