Exhaust Note

Hi all. New to the Forum and considering an RC F-Sport. Went to dealership for test drive Saturday and was standing in back of the car, in the showroom, when he started it up. I immediately went limp. The car sounded like, well, a Lexus.

Now, I just sold an R8 so I wasn't expecting that. But the Beemers & Audis have a decidedly louder growl at all RPM's. So..my question is - has Lexus received any negative feedback on this and/or are there any exhaust mods in the making for this sweet ride?

I hear ya about not being bowled over by the starting of the car. My last ride was an Infiniti G37 and she made you stand up and pay attention when she started. The RC350 F Sport does not give you that immediate gratification in the garage .... that being said, get up on her on the road and you will be much pleased! She will flat out growl at you when she is in the upper RPM's that she likes to perform at
>:D
coming from owning a Lexus SC400 and SC430 and knowing very well how their engines sound, along with other Lexus/Toyota V8's... it's easy to notice the distinctive Toyota V8 sound it has!
I like that they're innocuous at idle and then come alive when needed. Its like the quiet guy at the bar, he only speaks when he needs to, nothing superfluous ;):D
I agree .... I can drive a bad*ss car but not go deaf in the process! It's like a "sleeper" on race day, no one is worried about you kicking their *ss until you ... well ... do!
Is anyone thinking of changing the exhaust to get a different exhaust note?

Possibly, but I would have to hear what the options sound like first. Especially since a V6 doesn't have the same rumble that a V8 has the sound can be a bit on the raspy side.
Not sure if you heard about Joe Z Exhaust systems, whether you have or haven't, a future Joe Z RC-F Exhaust is something you'll want to be on the look out for ;)
I think the RC350 sounds fine as it is, but I'd be interested to hear some alternative exhaust notes for the car.

you can alwasy rid of the resonators for now! :D
you can always rid of the resonators for now! :D
That is true. :D

I like the way the vehicle sounds now. I would, however, like to hear some exhaust sounds from the different manufactures that hopefully will be coming out with options for us, and not just for the V8 model. Been down that road before.

It's easier than ripping my exhaust apart just to hear what it would sound like, and being a disabled Vet it's a little hard to do anyway.

I may be the minority but I like the way a well tuned 6 sounds, its got a higher pitch than the baugh baugh baugh spits of cross plane 8's... To me the 6's are more of a hum, a high string hum in cases... the Z/G37 was well done...

You're not as I also like it. What I meant was that I wasn't going to change anything until I first heard a sample. When I had my 11 V6 Camaro I kept the stock exhaust as it sound great, especially when paired with a cold air intake. Many of the V6 cars that changed their exhaust didn't sound as good as they did before, but like everything else beauty or sound in the eye/ear of the beholder.

On another note on the way to work today I had someone taking pictures of my car while on an overpass waiting to get on the freeway. :D

I struggle with my RC. I do like the note when you are into it but the idle is absolutely terrible. It sounds like a tapetty tractor. I have tried some different options but it just changes it into a boyracer.

Novel seems to be one of the best exhaust brands for lexus but it will cost you a pretty penny. In the future someone might discover a cheaper alternative that still sounds good, that i'm looking forward to.
