Autocar says so...

Following the GS F will be a four-door version of the RC F, which will feature identical underpinnings to the coupé but extra practicality and a slightly lower price tag. Expect to see the saloon RC F “sometime in 2016″. This may well be followed by a convertible version.
Think of BMW's 4 series Gran Coupe and you'll get the picture...

I'm surprised that it will be cheaper. I thought that it would be the same price or more expensive. I'm sure it will sell though. Plenty of people who want the practicality of 4 doors.
Now I like Lexus even more, this is what I wanted to see from them, good to see they're going to tap into the coupe style sedan market with the RC.
I wonder how sales of an RC sedan will compare to the sales of BMW's 4-Series Gran Coupe.

that's a tough one.
It seems like Lexus is following in the footsteps of other luxury brands by expanding their model lineups in a similar way. That should be the right move too. I t would be cool if we saw Lexus gaining on the Germans in the near future.
I just don't see the need for Lexus to chase the Teutonic trip down the terminal path of model proliferation. The Germans are building multiple niche vehicles to sell in low quantities and hoping for success that way. Lexus has an opportunity not to follow them down the dark hole and create viable product that can captivate their audience. They don't need the volume, Toyota does enough volume. What they need is to kick ass, and kick it in their own way not this follow the leader dance off the cliff edge...
It may or may not be a good move for them, but I like it and can't wait to see it come to life, even if we see it soon enough as a concept and have to wait a while for the production
I just think that companies feel pressure to not allow other companies to compete in segments without competition. Whether that's true or not, I'm not sure, but I think that is the thought behind it.

I see.
So honestly is there a need for a coupe sedan?
There is a need if it sells to people. I'm sure there will be those who buy it.

I don't really care for it, but I am not everyone.
